Biggest mistake of today: listening to it at Big W and then Woolies and then on the walk home.

Pissed myself laughing, whilst alone, in front of strangers. lol.

A fitting tribute

And it was.

Granted I could pick out exactly what happens during the episode before it occured (AJC is my testament) -- such as, I knew:

1 that they would resolve everything (pretty much) by the end of the episode
2. I knew that the knucle prints would be looked at (like duh)
3. I knew that the last scene would have been a funeral scene

I screamed when Nick 'miss shot' the dude. I was reasoning beforehand all the reasons why he wouldn't though: and I was right (but for a moment there I really did think he did shoot him)

God Sara looks so bloody different.

Least thats got my mind off the office politicis of trying find a friggen hons spot.

A great line in an unexpected fanfic.

It's about Scully getting into online porn (the things I read, ay :P? ) --and of course the cliche is the fact that her favourite online, er, partner, is of course Mulder himself.

Yet its when you get to something like this:

Scientists seldom invent. Our lives are charted by our
discoveries...we spend countless years searching for secrets
that elude us, but which have inhabited the earth for
millennia. We uncover what has always been there, and in our
discoveries our lives somehow become enriched. We find lost
pieces of ourselves, like parts of a puzzle we may never
solve, but which still make us more complete than when we
began.

Sometimes the truth is more elusive than it need be. It may
have been staring us in the face for eons, only to be
revealed in a moment of happy coincidence. At times like
this, it's hard to maintain a veneer of scientific
professionalism; one suspects the hand of God.

Smack bang in the middle of the fic (just as the storyline is reaching it's, er, climactic point)
that, well, brings you into a new state of aweness.

TITLE: Heat

I'm only halfway through, and already proclaiming it a new gem...completely unexpected find on an unpromted/unplanned wander into gossamer. Who'da thunk it?

Great Great Review!!!!

Totally. Awesome.
Totally True. I walked into that theater on Wednesday with a bucket load of expectation, and came out- well firstly, confused. Going online, thinking about the meaning of the film, muling over its meaning...

I love it.

CC is bloody brave. But I think its for the best.

*fingers crossed for 2021*

MOVIE REVIEW: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
Belief isn't easy to come by these days. But - despite most reviews - I still believe in The X-Files.

Perhaps the biggest problem with this new film (sub-titled I Want to Believe) arises not from the stars (or the production itself), but from ourselves, and -- specifically -- our expectations.

Based on the savage reviews proliferating on the web and in print, audiences and critics apparently desired a Wrath of Khan, when what they actually get is...The Search for Spock.

In other words, X-Files: I Want to Believe is a more intimate, cerebral adventure than it is a "big event" summer movie. There are virtually no optical special effects in this movie. I could detect no (or very little) CGI. There are few action sequences.</>

There is little violence of any kind, actually (I don't believe a single gun is fired...). Mulder and Scully never even carry fire-arms, as far as I can detect. And there are no explosions whatsoever.

All the fireworks, rather...are purely human; emotional. Accordingly, the climax is one that relies on the specific nuances of human interaction and relationships, not fights, chases, or gun-fire. The film's success hinges on such old--fashioned elements as atmosphere and mood. A wintry, oppressive location -- West Virginia -- is practically a supporting character here, and the build-up of real suspense is generated through effective use of solid film techniques such as cross-cutting. This is good work, beautifully photographed; it's merely out-of-step with the kind of movies being offered in our cineplexes today.

Honestly, I Want to Believe's greatest failing has nothing to do with what it is; but rather what it is not; what people apparently  )

Immediate thoughts of XF2

[info]whitewriter
I didn't post these here at LJ because I wanted to share them with a more, how to say, focused neiche at the Haven Boards - but I thought I'd post em here for memories.

I want to go see it again!!! I must convince Shoko to come see it with me... Glen liked it - but we both [G and I] have a feeling that when we like something, Shoko purposefully dislikes it.

So this is going to be a tough sell. Perhaps I will do it the same way I did it with my other friends. Put on my x files t-shirt and get ready to do some funky poaching!!!

My X files experience!!!!
[info]whitewriter
Ahhhh I've been dreaming of this week since 2001 and finally it has arrived.

The much anticipated film of my adolescence: X FILES II: I WANT TO BELIEVE.

I've worn my x files t shirt to see the film twice in less than 24 hours, and now I'm out of the high I'm watching Gillian's auction at Ebay and crazy prices like $500 for a script of Redux!! (urgh if only I had cash to spend)
